Some of the first client based work I took part in for Oxford University Press. As a year group we were challenged to create book covers for the Amber Undercover series, aimed for 9–11 year old girls. We had to show what the series would look like across all 4 books but only had to fully develop two, as seen below, for Amber Undercover and Amber Investigates. We were provided with dimensions for the covers and spines, synopsises of all books and the essential that the lead character, a young black girl, be represented on the front. The freedom this project left us was exciting and I tackled it from a comic styled approach, with ink dots filling the backdrop for all titles and bold outlined text for the title. The colours would also pop with vibrancy like classic comics do. As this was a spy series for young teens I felt this was a suitable approach and a fun one to work on over our eleven week schedule. digital illustration is not a strong point of mine and one of the largest challenges of the whole project, something I am currently still not entirely satisfied by.
